So, before the bottle service and free champagne at the hottest New Year’s Eve parties, before joining thousands under the arch for the final countdown, and before the massive firework show coinciding with that special New Year’s kiss, indulge in some of the finest cuisine the “Biggest Little City” has to offer.

Peppermill Resort Spa Casino

From casual to elegant, the Peppermill is offering fantastic dining options to celebrate the New Year. Enjoy filet mignon and shrimp with dark Valrhona cheesecake for dessert at Biscotti’s, or petite filet Diane and broiled lobster tail with classic New York cheesecake at Café Milano. If you’re looking for a wide selection of mouthwatering entrees, the Island Buffet is offering a chilled seafood bar, carving station, Southwestern and Asian selections, and of course, decadent desserts. For an elegant dining experience and wine parings, try the four-course Maine lobster tail feast at Bimini Steakhouse; the giant pasta shells with vine-ripened tomatoes, basil and prosciutto with raspberry crème brûlée inside Romanza Ristorante; or the pan-roasted Angus filet, wood-grilled Maine lobster Rockerfeller and Chocolate sushi with malted milk chocolate crème brûlée at Oceano.

Eldorado Hotel Casino

The Eldorado offers three delectable New Year’s Eve choices that will fill you up before you hit the town. Join the tantalizing New Year’s celebration at La Strada and feast on the creations of Chef Ivano Centemri, which include, duck prosciutto, Cotechino sausage ravioli, roasted beef tenderloin and lobster medallion, pan roasted Scottish salmon and chocolate mousse. At Roxy Restaurant and Bar, treat yourself to lobster bisque, prime New York streak, chocolate truffles along with complimentary champagne. For a diverse pre-party feast, The Buffet is offering everything from calamari francaise to roast turkey.

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Manhattan Deli is serving New York steak and crab, while the Purple Parrot dishes up a 3 pre-fixe course including prime rib and crab legs. For a savory dining experience in the evening, the Atlantis presents a trio of flavorful options, including, a steak and seafood dinner at Toucan Charlie’s Buffet & Grille, wood fired New York steak stuffed with jumbo lump crab at the Atlantis Steakhouse or coquilles du Chef and tournedos Rossini at Bistro Napa.

Circus Circus Reno

Begin your countdown to the New Year with a mouthwatering dinner at Circus Circus where you will enjoy a broiled half-pound ham steak topped with raisin sauce at the Americana Café; carved turkey, prime rib and lamb at the Courtyard Buffet; or lobster, crab and asparagus risotto at the Steakhouse at Circus.

Out of nearly 20 cookers from as far away as Texas, a new hometown favorite and cook-off rookie took the Championship Trophy home for Best in Show. Judges voted Pie Face Pizza Co. of Reno’s wing sauce the most flavorful of the weekend. Coming in second was another popular pizza joint, Reno’s own Pizza Plus. After winning the annual event for several years, Havin’ an Affair of Las Vegas fell to third place, but did take home the People’s Choice Award. Redneck BBQ of Reno and Famous Dave’s rounded out the list of favorites, placing fourth and fifth at the 10th Annual Cook-off.

Each of the Downtown Reno casinos also challenged each other to a cook-off of their own at this 4th of July weekend affair. Winning for the second year straight was Silver Legacy, whose secret sauce was chosen over Club Cal-Neva and Harrah’s, who tied for second place honors.

In a special judging Friday afternoon, members of the local media tasted wings prepared by featured cookers. The 2011 Media Choice Award was given to Circus Circus for a unique and tangy mango habanera sauce that pleased the most palates.

With so many winners, you’ll just have to try all the top picks to determine your favorites.

Congrats to everyone who participated in the 10th Annual Great International Chicken Wing Society Cook-off and Street Faire, see you next year!

We've all been here.

One wants Italian, the other Chinese and the recurrent dieter desires nothing but salad bar fixings.

Such edible diversities can often cause strife and discord, and destroy a vacation’s harmony unless, while in Reno, your hungry horde heads for the Buffet at the Eldorado.

Recently renovated, the dining room is stupendous in size, selection and service.

With its soaring columns of warmly burnished woods and colorful swirls of apricot and coral oranges in lamp fixtures matched by grandiose floral arrangements the act of eating here is an event set upon a magnificent stage.

The production carries into the food.

Carving stations are a buffet norm, and the Eldorado's prime rib, turkey and beef brisket all glisten with flavorful juiciness. Roast lamb, spiked with rosemary, is an unexpected and delectable discovery.

Crispy egg rolls and low mein lead off the Chinese contingency while tender porchini mushroom ravioli, swimming in a delicate cream sauce is just one of the numerous pastas and pizzas available.

Love taco salads but shrink from the task of eating a huge one? The Buffet offers a pequeño (small) version - perfect for piling your plate with additional epicurean goodies like chilled smoked salmon dotted with dark olive green capers.

Speaking of goodies - leave room (lots of it) for dessert.

Homemade gelato, fresh baked cookies, pies and a chocolate layer cake with whipped cream are just a few selections that will have the dieter screaming in submission.

For the young ,or the young at heart, fluffs of cotton candy are made on site.

The Buffet is also open for breakfast and lunch, and unlike the old Stones song - everyone....EVERYONE...will get satisfaction here!
